[Anime] The Ocean Waves
The Ocean Waves is one of the 'forgotten' Studio Ghibli movies. It's not had a US or European release (although I've read it is due to get a UK release any time now).
I bought my copy from Japan, where Ghibli's DVDs include English subtitles.
It all starts when a guy standing on a railway station platform sees a girl he recognises on the platform opposite. Trains come in, and when they go, she's gone.
Later, on a 'plane, Taku thinks of how he and the girl, who's name is Rikako, first met two years ago at high school, and what happened afterwards. The school trip to Hawaii, Taku's unexpected and disastrous trip to Tokyo with Rikako, and the romantic triangle between Taku, Rikako, and Taku's friend Yutaka.
All comes to a head after the school reunion...
It's very much a romantic slice of life / rite of passage story, with no fantasy elements.
I'm a bit of a fan of romantic comedy anime, there are some good ones out there and this is well worth watching.

Adderall and jaw clenching
Anyone on Adderall ever notice yourself clenching your jaw and/or teeth? I am definitely doing that, and it's new since I started taking Adderall again. I think I remember doing it when I was on Adderall the last time, but that's been a few years.
Interestingly, this new Adderall/Strattera combo seems to be doing something, though I may have to up the Strattera again. There are still swathes of time at work (like now) when I can't make myself do anything, but I'm much more able to snap out of them and get something done. And when I am working, I'm much more able to stay on task until the task is completed. For example, my e-mail is now completely organized for the first time in months. That's a big deal, and it took some doing. I think it's going to be a bit of a gradual thing to break myself out of months of complete and utter lack of motivation, focus, and organization and get into a fully productive rhythm.
I also think I can tell a difference between a) taking Adderall by itself, b) taking Strattera by itself, and c) taking both in combination. Adderall by itself helped my energy level and motivation, but didn't always focus me in a positive direction. It also left me feeling kind of foggy and on edge. Strattera by itself, when it worked, calmed my brain down and focused my attention and gave me the ability to organize my work, but if I got into a funk of procrastination, it wasn't enough to jolt me out of it.
The two medications seem to be working together pretty much the way I expected. The Adderall gives me the "get up and go" to snap myself out of procrastination and focus on a task, and the Strattera helps to keep me focused, clear-headed, and organized. The Strattera also seems to have eliminated the "fogginess" I felt on Adderall alone.
Anyway, this was rather a longer post than I had intended. |

The feeling you get when handed a big fat envelope on returning from work, and you wonder if you've ordered the latest collection of Doctor Who comics and forgotten about it, but it turns out to be your new job contract and employee handbook and you're simultaneously a bit disappointed but pleased that you can hand your notice in tomorrow.
I think the word's German. Might have a 'k' in it. |

DateTime Picker (C#)
Hi all,
I was wondering if it is possible to exclude certain dates from a DateTime Picker in C#?
Basically, what I need to do, is exclude every day from the DateTimePicker control, except the 1st of every month.
I assume I could somehow do this with an if condition, but I don't know enough about the DateTimePicker control.
Your help would be appreciated :)

Day 8 on Wellbutrin now at 300mg I'm taking two pills in the morning now. I started yesterday and today I did not have any hot flashes (weird, huh?). I find myself feeling a little drowsy around mid-day as well and more energetic in the afternoon. My focus and concentration is still the same. I'm quite sure this will improve with time (at least I hope so). I'm also not as stressed as I always am and feel much more layed back and relaxed and it is very noticeable with my family and friends. I weighed myself this morning and I am down 3lbs in one week!! I was so excited, I packed my gym clothes and went to the gym today (haven't been to the gym in ages) Side Effects: No more dry mouth and hot flashes but I tend to itch a little more than normal. Current Mood:  bouncy |

css anoyance I am weak at css, so this could be a real easy issue or real hard!! I used this http://www.solucija.com/templates/demo/Internet_Sharing/ template. I have intergrated it with my site, and it works a dream.. in IE and in firefox.. result.. until I tried it on a version of IE 7, and its gone mad! I even went back to the original template and the grey box seems to cover the search box in that too.... I have spent ages trying to work out what I can change to stop it happening, can anyone point me in the right direction?? Current Mood:  confused |

Bananas. Oh, wait...
As some of you know, I eat bananas when they're covered in black stippling, which is a little riper than some of you like.
I've run out of bananas.
I went to Sainsbury's to buy assorted stuff, including bananas.
They were all bright green. All of them. You might think that the title-bar-background colour of my journal style is bright green, but that's just peanuts to today's Sainsbury's bananas.
So I've got apples instead. Seven of them. Which has confused me totally. It's been some considerable time since I've eaten an apple that isn't in a pie of some sort.
Ah well.

I hate Freewebs
I'm really frustrated. I've been helping out my friend for the past few years. She's good in regards to business and I'm good in regards to the online stuff. She has a website and a store and I've helped her with all of it. I changed the stylesheet on the store, as well as added any extensions she might need and upgrade it when necessary. I created the entire layout for her website and have updated it for years.
Well, one of her friends started a separate venture with her, using FreeWebs. I try to explain to her that nobody takes a site built with Freewebs seriously, but I don't think it gets through. The only thing Freewebs does is make her feel like her website/store should be as easy as Freewebs, and why isn't it?
Well, I installed Drupal on her website and redid it that way. All she could do is complain about how confusing it is and, until I changed the theme, how unattractive it was.
I really have no idea how to deal with this.
I've also been meaning to change the store. We use OsCommerce, which we've been having a lot of problems with lately. The biggest problem is that we cannot figure out how to get the right shipping for the products. There is no option for dimensions, only weight, so the shipping always gets calculated as MediaMail. I tried installing Magento and importing the OsCommerce database into it. It worked. Then I tried to change it so that the catalog would show up as the default...and it broke. I'm sure if we used it clean, it'd work just fine.
She visited another store, wanting to know if hers could look like that. I discovered that store was built with Volusion, which costs a lot of money to use. I am sure she's still thinking, "Why can't I have a site like that?"
Meanwhile, my friend wants to know if I can start maybe one or two other online businesses with her. I feel that she is possibly trying to push me out of the original businesses, and trying to distract me with this new stuff. I feel that, for the most part, Freewebs is making me obsolete. |

Glastonbury: Friday On the first day, I made copious notes… then on Saturday, my phone died, and I reverted to my old one, so the notes stopped. So you’re only getting much info on the Friday, which will probably come as a relief…Was it raining? Yes. Was I damp? Yes. Was there mud everywhere? Yes.
