The first results from [the Zimbabwe] election recount under way show President Robert Mugabe's party has won an additional parliamentary seat, state media reported Wednesday.

Odd. Both that article and the BBC one say that there was only a difference of one vote in the counts. And the BBC implication is that Zanu had won it the first time round. Which is not what AP are saying.
Not that I don't think the recounts are a way of fixing the election but I don't think this particular constituency is actively part of that.

I struggled with that but I think they actually announced the results of more than one seat.

In one seat that had been won by the opposition, the recount said that Zanu won it. In another seat that Zanu had won originally, the opposition had request a recount and after the recount the difference in the count was only one vote leaving Zanu with the seat.

I think. The article wasn't very well written.

That would make more sense but finding it clearly written somewhere would help even more. ;-)

I don't know why they're even bothering spending all that time ballot stuffing and intimidating the opposition and pretending to be democratic. If you don't have elections at all and treat your citizens like shit you get much less bad press and state visits and so on, rather than EU travel bans.
